GIVING CODE: ACM1577
About the project
Field: Commonwealth of Independent States (former Soviet Union)
Location: Russia, Ukraine, Armenia, Moldova, and two countries in Central Asia
Pastors in CIS countries often minister without a salary, or they do not earn enough from their congregations to cover all of the basic needs for themselves and their families. The CIS Pastors Fund is used to cover the high costs of medical care and medications when pastors or their family members become ill. The hospitals and medical systems in some of CIS countries do not have the conditions to provide proper medical attention to patients, so people try to get medical care from a private facility. However, this is extremely expensive, making quality care out of reach for our pastors and their families who receive little or no support from their local churches. Quality health care is especially vital for pastors in this region because so many of them come from backgrounds of drug addiction or alcoholism, or they are living with HIV or AIDS.
We provide support to pastors and their families as they face health problems that they are unable to handle on their own. This fund is also used to help pastors’ families with funeral expenses. Over the past year, at least five pastors have received support from this fund to provide for their medical needs.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
$25 will help provide necessary medications for a pastor or family member.
$50 will help provide a pastor or family member with health care from a qualified doctor.
$100 will help cover costs related to hospitalization for a pastor or family member.
