CIS Rehabilitation Centers Endowment
About the project
CIS rehabilitation centers started as the result of a real need in the former Soviet Union, especially among younger men and women. With the collapse of existing systems, many turned to drugs and alcohol because of loss of hope in the chaos, and the Church of the Nazarene endeavored to venture into this ministry area. Starting with day programs and ministry with co-dependants, the program quickly grew to include live-in centers and education for those called into ministry.
Our centers run an 8-step rehabilitation program over the course of six months. Opportunity is then given to those who feel called into ministry to stay and go through a one-year program for discipleship and leadership training, which includes ministry assignments. Many develop as pastors, and others as directors of ministries such as HIV and AIDS ministry, prison ministry, homeless ministry, co-dependent ministry, prevention ministries in schools, prayer ministry, and more.
More than 150 people have enrolled in the residential rehabilitation program and directly benefited from the work of the centers, and more than 1,000 people have received personal counsel on issues related to addiction and treatment methods. Of those in the residential program, 55 men and women were freed from addictions and successfully graduated from the program. Of the 55 successful graduates, 30 people were enrolled in the trainings to become church or ministry leaders, and many are already serving in leadership roles.
Committed to secure the long-term funding for the actual and future rehabilitation ministries we have also set up the CIS Rehabilitation Ministry Endowment. The capital goal of this endowment is just under US $600,000 and would provide the minimum funds needed on a yearly basis to keep each of our centers running in order to meet the needs of men and women trying to overcome their addiction. It costs about US $800 per month to operate a residential rehabilitation center with 15 individuals.
HOW YOU CAN HELP:
